Expeditionary Command Post Communications

Mobile. Dispersed. Comms-up in under 5 minutes. The Army’s shift to mobile, survivable command posts demands communications equipment that moves at the speed of the mission.

The Problem

Modern Large Scale Combat Operations require command posts that can move, disperse, and re-establish communications rapidly — not CPs built around permanent infrastructure. The Army’s Command Post Modernization initiative reflects a hard lesson: a stationary CP is a vulnerable CP. Communications equipment must support rapid setup, rapid breakdown, and operation from any power source, without dependence on external networks or infrastructure.

The PTS Solution

PTS Power Supply Docking Stations and E-Kit™ systems are purpose-built for this environment. Every component needed for a functional CP communications node — regulated power, radio docking, audio output, antenna interface — arrives pre-integrated and ready to deploy. Move the CP. Set up in minutes. Establish comms. Move again.

Key Capabilities

Rapid Mobile Setup

Comms operational in under 5 minutes from unpack — supports the Army’s mobile CP survivability requirement with no assembly, no tools, no specialized training.

Infrastructure-Independent

Universal AC (85–260 VAC) or DC (20–33 VDC) input — operates from generator, vehicle battery, shore power, or solar. No external network dependency.

PACE-Ready

Multi-platform support enables full PACE implementation — VHF primary, SATCOM alternate, HF contingency/emergency — from a single PTS-powered communications node.

Battery Logistics Eliminated

PTS Battery Replacement Unit (BEHR-0001 v2) allows PRC-117G, PRC-160, PRC-158, and PRC-167 to operate from AC or DC power, eliminating battery resupply requirements for fixed CP positions.

TAK Ecosystem Support

Supports continuous operation of TAK ecosystem-enabled devices at the expeditionary command post. By eliminating battery dependency on the radio side, PSDS frees operators to maintain uninterrupted TAK ecosystem situational awareness feeds alongside voice and data comms — critical for mobile CP survivability in LSCO environments.

Frequently Asked Questions

PTS PSDS systems and E-Kits are designed for rapid setup and breakdown — comms in under 5 minutes, no tools, no assembly. Equipment moves with the CP, operates from any available power source (AC or DC worldwide), and does not require external network infrastructure. This directly supports the Army’s Command Post Modernization priorities for dispersal and survivability in Large Scale Combat Operations.

PTS offers PSDS variants for SINCGARS, L3Harris AN/PRC-117G, RTX AN/PRC-162, AN/PSC-5, L3Harris AN/PRC-150 and AN/PRC-160, plus the Battery Replacement Unit (BEHR-0001 v2) for battery-free operation and the E-Kit™ expeditionary communications kit — a complete CP comms node in a single transit case.

The PTS Battery Replacement Unit enables AN/PRC-117G, AN/PRC-160, AN/PRC-158, and AN/PRC-167 radios to operate directly from AC (85–264V, 47–64 Hz) or DC (10–50 VDC) power, eliminating the need for MIL-STD batteries or Vehicular Adapter Assemblies. For fixed CP positions, this eliminates battery resupply logistics entirely.
