The problem the E-Kit™ solves

Establishing communications in an expeditionary environment typically requires sourcing, transporting, and integrating multiple separate systems: a radio mounting system, a power source, an antenna, a mast, solar charging, and cabling — each from a different program, different supply chain, different training requirement. The setup time alone can delay critical communications.

The PTS E-Kit™ eliminates that friction. Everything needed for a complete, functional communications node arrives in ruggedized transit cases. PSDS. Power source. Antenna system. Mast. Solar charging panels. Pre-integrated, pre-tested, ready to deploy. Two personnel can have communications operational in under 20 minutes from case to key-up.

The E-Kit™ does not change the basic functions of the tactical radio, does not interfere with COMSEC, and does not affect radio range or functionality. It provides a rapid, low-SWaP, self-sustaining kit to power military radios in any environment regardless of external power sources available.

What's included in every E-Kit™

All E-Kit™ configurations include these components. Radio-specific PSDS and antenna systems vary by configuration — see kit variants below.

No impact on COMSEC, range, or radio functionality

The PTS E-Kit™ components do not change the basic functions of the tactical radio systems and will not interfere with tactical communications with respect to COMSEC, range, or functionality. The E-Kit™ provides a rapid, low-SWaP, self-sustaining kit to power military radios in any environment regardless of the external power sources available.

Common specifications

Specifications common across all E-Kit™ configurations. Radio-specific specs vary by PSDS model.

Frequently asked questions

The PTS E-Kit™ (Expeditionary Communications Kit) is a complete, self-contained tactical communications system that integrates a Power Supply Docking Station (PSDS), portable rechargeable power source, antenna system, integrated mast, and all required cabling into ruggedized transit cases. It provides everything required to establish voice and data communications in a forward expeditionary environment without external infrastructure. Setup time is under 20 minutes from case to key-up.

The PTS E-Kit™ is available in configurations for SINCGARS ASIP, AN/PRC-158, AN/PRC-162, AN/PRC-150, and AN/PRC-160. HF configurations support the PRC-150 and PRC-160 with NVIS antenna capability. VHF/UHF configurations support SINCGARS and the PRC-158 and PRC-162. Contact PTS for AN/PRC-117F, AN/PRC-117G, AN/PRC-152, and PSC-5 SATCOM compatibility.

Yes. The E-Kit™ includes a 1.8KW portable power source with six BB-2590 batteries that operates independently of any external power grid. The included 120W folding solar panels can recharge the system in the field. The power source can also be recharged via AC mains or DC vehicle power when available, and charged batteries can be removed and bulk-charged separately.

The E-Kit™ includes 100 ft of LMR400 feedline, which allows approximately 95 ft of separation between the PSDS and antenna system. This provides operational flexibility for situating the antenna away from the command post for better RF performance or force protection considerations.

No. The PTS E-Kit™ components do not change the basic functions of the tactical radio systems and will not interfere with tactical communications with respect to COMSEC, range, or functionality. The E-Kit™ provides a rapid, low-SWaP, self-sustaining kit to power military radios in any environment regardless of external power sources available.

The complete PTS E-Kit™ HF system — including erection of the 7m IAM-D integrated mast antenna — can be established in under 20 minutes by a two-person team. This compares favorably to traditional HF antenna systems that may require 45–90 minutes and additional personnel to erect.
