Vehicle Mounted Communications
Tactical radio capability in any vehicle. No permanent modification. No special tools. Supports mobile CP operations and on-the-move communications.
View ProductsThe Problem
The Army’s shift to mobile, dispersed command posts requires communications that move with the element — in whatever vehicle is available. Permanently modifying vehicles for radio installation is slow, expensive, and incompatible with units that rotate vehicles between missions or operate mixed fleets. Battery-dependent operation adds resupply complexity that undermines the mobility advantage the vehicle is supposed to provide.
The PTS Solution
PTS PSDS systems install tactical radios in virtually any vehicle without permanent modification, drawing from the vehicle’s existing DC power supply. The PTS Battery Replacement Unit (BEHR-0001 v2) goes a step further — allowing key radios to operate from AC or DC vehicle power directly, eliminating battery dependency for vehicle-mounted positions entirely.

Key Capabilities
No Vehicle Modification
Installs without drilling, bracket fabrication, or hardwired permanent connections — preserves vehicle configuration for rapid role changes.
Eliminates Battery Dependency
PTS Battery Replacement Unit enables key radios to run directly from vehicle DC (10–50 VDC), eliminating battery resupply for vehicle-mounted positions and reducing logistics tail.
Supports Mobile CP Operations
PSDS systems enable rapid vehicle-mounted CP setup and breakdown — comms up in minutes, no delay when the CP jumps.
Regulated Output
Conditioned power protects radio electronics from vehicle power fluctuations — cold-start spikes, alternator ripple, generator noise.
Vehicle Integration in the Field

“PTS PSDS systems have been fielded across every Active Army Division — including vehicle-mounted configurations across mixed utility and commercial vehicle fleets.”
All PTS solutions are available through GSA Schedule, CHS-6 / Leidos, FedMall, DLA TLS, and direct order. Government Purchase Card accepted.

The PTS Battery Replacement Unit enables the AN/PRC-117G, AN/PRC-160, AN/PRC-158, and AN/PRC-167 to operate directly from any DC source between 10–50 VDC — covering the full range of military and commercial vehicle electrical systems — without MIL-STD batteries or Vehicular Adapter Assemblies. For vehicle-mounted positions, this eliminates battery resupply logistics entirely.
No. PTS PSDS systems install in utility, commercial, and non-tactical vehicles without drilling, bracket fabrication, or hardwired permanent connections. The PSDS connects to the vehicle’s existing DC power and can be removed and reinstalled in minutes.
Any vehicle providing 10–50 VDC (BEHR-0001 v2) or 20–33 VDC (PSDS) — HMMWVs, LMTVs, MRAPs, commercial trucks, SUVs, and other utility vehicles. No power adapters or conditioning equipment required.
